ER staff are excellent with kids. They brought my son right back to a bed and the nurse and doctor saw him within 10 minutes and had a plan of action put together within minutes. It was nothing like the regular ER's that make you wait in a waiting room full of sick people in uncomfortable chairs. I highly recommend taking your sick or injured kids to the ER at The Toledo Children's Hospital.
Dr. Mixer, Dr. Young, and RN Emma were exceptional for us tonight. Very efficient and comforting with the bed side manner you'd want when your child is ill. I'm very impressed with this group and facility and would not hesitate to return.
Daughter had to be sedated for an MRI. Nursing staff was great. They were very informative and friendly every step of the way! The sedation doctor, on the other hand had horrible bedside manner. Also... he suggested that based on my less than 1yr olds physical appearance... I should have her tested for a very serious disease. If this were at all accurate, I guess I'd be thankful. But, his claims were totally a matter of personal opinion and he worried my entire family for weeks, while we waited on test results. Although we were pretty confident that she didn't have the disease... hearing from a doctor that she could have it freaks a mommy out!! My daughter has been to about 8 doctors since birth and this was the only doctor that had this opinion. Of course the results were negative, as her ped swore they would be. He also decided to discuss it while my daughter was having a horrid time coming out of anesthesia, and I was already very upset. All of the staff at the peds office were in shock that he had this opinion, the way he went about stating his opinion, and the timing of the discussion. We will be using Mercy for any of our hospital needs from now on! Between this incident, and my horrible experience with labor & delivery, we will NOT be returning to Toledo Hospital... especially Toledo Children's Hospital.

Toledo hospital is slow in the children part. Waiting over a hour in the waiting room! My son is sick. Still waiting for him to be seen. No nurse has came in since been in the room for 25 mins. This is ridiculous. Will not be coming back.
My 4 year old daughter had a very bizarre bone infection that till this day the doctors are unsure what caused it. I don't believe any other facility would have known how to treat her thumb injury. When we were in the e.r the nurse treating her stated it appeared like a bone infection. I was doubtful, but they cultured and treated her injury and my daughter is now just a normal kid with no lasting injury to her thumb. They gave her so many gifts that when my daughter came to leave, she was sad to leave the doctors house. I will never go to another hospital other than Toledo Children's.
