I don't recommend this place for any exotics you may have, find another vet for that. I took my bearded dragon in for a general check up, I was getting extremely vague information. Mostly just (nothing out of the ordinary).
No personality with the Dr. And my dogs dental bill was ridiculous..I got a second thought at Community Pet Care..and so glad I did. A difference of almost 800.00..Community Pet Care team was so nice..my dog had his dental surgery there..and we will be going back to them.
He had my bearded dragon take some metronidazole injection orally, for possible parasites. 4 hours later my bearded dragon regurgitated it, and was left in bad shape for a few days, as that drains them of fluids, which can be very bad, among many other things. I called the next day after what happened and Talked with Myers himself, and he didn't seem concerned at all. he said as long as the metronidazole was down for an hour it was okay, as if my bearded dragon throwing it up wasn't a problem, and generally just avoided answering any concerns I had. "fingers crossed your beardie doesn't die"
When I moved to Toledo five years ago, I moved with two elderly cats. I brought them to the Hartman Veterinary Hospital for their annual check up and shots. Dr. Meyer took time and interest in these kitties and had great suggestions for the oldest cat (18 at that time). The 17 year old cat was long hair and I was able to have her groomed while at the vet. She also had issues with seizures and I was pleased that whoever groomed her was careful and there were no seizures. I did not take the cats in for shots because of their ages and they never got outside. Five years later, I have had to send both of these kitties to their next journey. Dr. Meyer was kind and compassionate. First, little Star, at age 23 and six months later, little Nimbus at age 23....very sad...but the staff was kind and helpful at such a difficult time. I do not see us getting another kitty...at least for another year...but if we do, I will not hesitate to take my pet to Hartman Veterinary Hospital. I read the other reviews...and must disagree with the one saying something about someone with an attitude. I did not see this at all...not any of the times I have been there. The staff is helpful, kind and all seem to be there for caring of animals.
Such a great place, everybody is nice, except the vet, he is unpleasant, and doesnt attempt to be friendly or anything. And they're just so pricey, and last time we went in they charged us $40 for a heartworm test we did not ask for and made us pay it.
My questions were mostly dodged and unanswered, so I'm led to believe the older guy responsible for the reptile side of the vet doesn't really have any idea what he is doing.
I won't be coming back, as my lizard has been left in worst condition than when I came in. Maybe they treat the mammals better here, but in terms of reptiles, AVOID this vet. $100 to have my beardie worse off, not what I expected, but at least I know now.
Love em because they love my kitty.
