Went here in a time of crisis about 2 yrs ago. Waited for about 2 hours just to be met with by a guy that was there for security just to get info from me becuase they were so extremely busy. He told me then and there that I didn't "look" like I was in crisis and that this place was usually only for the uninsured and most frequented by the homeless just looking for a bed to sleep in for the night. I decided to go home for the night and schedule an actual assessment for the next day. When I got there, instead of the assessment, she told me the same thing about it being for the uninsured and she helped me set up an appointment with someone from Harbor. I kept asking if I would still get an assessment from them and she said yes. She helped me get a quicker appointment but low and behold it was just for counseling with no assessment.
Hvae to tell you something!!!!!! I couldnt remember a time when I was EVER AS EMBARRASED as i was then !! Talk about a very DEGRADING, EMBARRASSING experience.
.....but when meeting with lady turned out a staff member had COMPLETELY gone through my wallet !!!!! wrote down evrthing in it---credit cards, a lot of PERSONAL information that was no one else's damn business! I wasn't even able to be present when this was done. Was all done without my permission, without ANY prior WARNING or NOTIFICATION. I was almost in shock from disbelief..
Went there a few years ago on the strong advice of my doctor....when I arrived and was taken up to an upper floor, I notonly had to hand over belongings but also my wallet---immediately. Met with some lady--talked to her half an hour. So far so good...
Anyway, they offered to set up some kind of 14-day contact program for after I left. But I just never had anything to do with them again ! I couldnt believe someone could be subject to that.
My doctor, by the way, seemed to seriously question why Rescue Crisis would do scuh a thing. He said "You could have claimed there was 500 dollars in the wallet and now most of it was gone." Quite right !
Takes a while bit you will go to a hospital...people are ok there in parent hospital isn't bad food could be better...no menus with they need...groups are by far fun and layed back
He never recommedned I go there again.
