The staff there are truly wonderful. I've been to the home on many occasions and.i know they go the extra mile to make services really special.
I had my first experience with Newcomer recently. It wasn't horrible but I probably wouldn't recommend this facility because of the staff. The people working the night of the showing kind of reminded me of the security guards at the museum. They were watching our every move. It was uncomfortable. I felt like I was visiting a jail rather than a funeral home. The lady was walking back and forth from the desk through the showing room and back to the desk again and again. I am not sure what she thought was going on but it was all normal funeral activities. People were paying their respects and talking to each other. At one point the lady reprimanded a child for bringing a pretzel out of the kitchen into the lobby. I have been to many funerals at different funeral homes & usually the staff is not such a huge part of the showing. The viewing room was pretty small and only about 1/4 of the guests could fit in it at a time which led to a lot of people hanging out in the lobby.
The online casket prices are thousands of dollars less than prices at Newcomer. The funeral home illegally required the customers to be present when they ordered an online casket. Shop online for your casket before visiting the funeral home.
Other than the staff the building is nice and well kept up. I would recommend it only for small groups. Our family was way to big to fit in here.
Well, it was pretty nice inside, but since I was here because someone died, I can't quite give it a five.
